Frustrated with Home Affairs and South Africa.

I am very disappointed and frustrated in Home Affairs and South Africa.

My daughter has been trying to apply for her I.D. a number of 11 times today, 13th August 2018. We have been to several different branches. Some of them more than once. My daughter is writing her metric exam shortly and cannot register for this as she still does not have her I.D. The 10 prior times attempting to apply for her first time I.D. we were either told that the office has reached their limited of numbers for the day and been told to go home or the offices was offline for the day. On 5th April 2018 we arrived at Umgeni Offices at 4am. This again looked hopeful as we were not too far down the queue. At about 10am tickets were handed out and we were told that they are only taking 150 people for the day which included 80 people from the previous day and that we should go home. This was apparently due to short staff as normally this office takes 300 people for the day. This was after standing in the queue for 6 hours. It is dangerous as it's only me and my daughter. This is after always getting to the offices just before 5am in the mornings. On Friday, 10th August 2018 we attempted for the 10th time. We arrived at the Tongaat office just after 5am and when the offices opened we were told they were offline nationwide. We were also told that they are not sure whether they will go online again the day. We decided that because we are not far in the queue that we will wait and see whether they go online as she is running out of time to register for her matric exams. At 12:30pm we were told that they will not be going online today and to go home. This is now from 5am to 12:30pm standing in the queue. She again attempted on 13th August 2018 at Pinetown Office. She went through the entire process just to be told that their scanner is not working. They then again went offline but still she did not leave. She was hopeful. They went back online but the scanner was still not working and she was told that she will have to again attempt some other time but will however have to go through the entire process again starting in the queue and having to face the possibility of being send home again as they have reached their limit for the day or being offline again.

I am a single mother and have taken off work so many times now to assist my daughter in applying for her first I.D. as she is not allowed to apply without me. She has been kept out of school so many times. She is at a crucial stage in her metric year and cannot afford to have these off days as she is missing out on valuable lessons. If my daughter does not get a I.D. she will not be able to write her metric exams and what will the future hold for her.

We are really at a point that we do not know what to do anymore.
