Disappointed

I have gone to the Benoni Home affairs on numerous occasions and left due to the long queues as I am 81 years old and have difficult in standing for long periods. A friend suggested going in the afternoon which I did today. I got there at 15.00 and there were only 2 people at the counter. When I asked which forms I must complete I was told that I am too late for ID or Passport applications and must return at 8.00 tomorrow. Surely this sounds wrong? What alternative do I have to apply for a new Smart ID and Passport renewal?
