Dept of Home Affairs sucks!!!!!!!
My 79year old Mother-in-law app**** for her passport in order to go on Hajj in July. She app**** on the 7th May 2019 @ the Standard Bank Home Affairs branch @ Canal Walk. She was told it would take 2 weeks. 2 weeks later we heard nothing & followed up only to be told her biometrics did not go thru! We then brought her in again on the 25th March 2019 for Biometrics & was told it would be treated as urgent. I called the Dept of Home Affairs Call Center and @ 15:11 on the 25th March 2019 they confirmed they received her application and would take 3 weeks! 01/04/2019 @ 09:48 I spoke to an Agent at Dept of Home Affairs Call Center & was told they no longer process urgent request and that my Mother-in-law would need to wait 3 weeks! 04/04/2019 @ 14:37 Agent informs me still in process status and escalated to Head Office. 24/04/2019 received sms stating biometrics failed! 25/04/2019 Mother-in-law has to go again to Home Affairs for biometrics & again told it would take 3 weeks! Again, no sense of urgency! 10/05/2019 (ref ********** 496) informed still in processing & would be escalated! 16/05/2019 @ 15:47 still not finalised & apparently being investigated!
I have escalated this matter to the Regional Manager of Home Affairs, District Coordinator, Minister of Home Affairs & sent email to ********** District Coordinator has said that matter has been escalated from his side and would monitor on his side as well. But since the 10/05/2019, I have not heard from him again. If my Mother-in-law misses the deadline to submit her passport, she stands to loose the opportunity to perform her pilgrimage AND stands to loose out on her R65 000!!!! Which I will hold Home Affairs liable for! She is stressed out of wits which is so unfair on her when she has comp**** with EVERYTHING they required in order for her to obtain her passport.
Hello Peter please can you help us out.
