Department of home Affairs:Poor service

Its so frustrating living in a society where such departments are dragging their feet in just helping us as citizen with doing things the legal way.

I app**** for Surname change for my 5 year old daughter in February 2019 at the department of home affairs (Orlando) Brunch, I was given a time frame of 120 days (4 months). I visited the brunch July 2019 (After 6 months) only to find out that changes on her birth certificate where not amended as yet. The lady at the brunch gave me the call center number to follow up on the matter, I called in August and I was given a case number as the application was still pending. I was told to call back after 2 weeks it should be done by then but till today no positive outcome from the department.

I am writing this out of frustration because I believe that the department it self knows the importance of one being in position of their Identity, How heartbreaking it is that I need to wait for the birth certificate to be issued before I can get my child registered for school not knowing when because no communication is done at least to state maybe the reasons to the delay, No one has answers but they've been trained to improve such services. As I've just stated I cant even procced with having my child registered for school next year because there is someone who was employed to get such services done but clearly they fail in getting their job done.

We stand in long queues for one to get proper and legal document, we are sent back if we do not have relevant documents, the department preaches about *****ulence every now and than but they do wrong to us by not living up to their values, we are promised heaven and earth when it comes to them winning our votes on elections and funny enough things are done in order during such seasons even have extension of time for people to get their I.D etc done for their own benefit.

So why is It difficult for employees of the department of home affairs to just copy and paste from given information we have provided? I doubt it takes close to a year to change someone's surname like its been done in my case.Or if not so, may the department create job opportunities for people of SA whom are willing to work and help get such services done as promised with the accurate time frame.

Its been 10 months waiting :( how possible is this?
