I sponsored a person in South Africa to get his UK passport and the Home Office overcharged me £80 and sent the £80 cheque refund to the person in South Africa, instead of myself who was the sponsore and lives in the UK. The applicant could not cheque the £80 at his South African bank to refund me so he had to post the cheque back to the Home Office, which cost him R450 (a lot of money in Rands).

He posted back in October 2020 and the Home Office received it within the same month. After 8 months of chasing them, they did not bother sending the cheque back to myself. I even logged a complaint, which was never actioned and had to get my local MP to contact them directly. It is absurd that they had the cheque for 8 entire months and did not bother to refund it. The service is absolutely appalling.
