I took two days' leave to take my daughter and mom to Home Affairs so we could apply for our Smart Card IDs. On Monday we arrived at 07h00, to find the queue extremely long. We joined the queue thinking it would move quickly. Three hours later we were still in the same position. They have no regard whatsoever for old people. My mom is 80 years old and she had to stand on the pavement in the hot sun. I eventually had to leave. We returned on Wednesday arriving at 07h30, as they open at 09h00 on the last Wednesday of the month. We again waited in the queue for longer than 4 hours. My mom by that time felt terrible, so I again had to leave. The service is horrific at Home Affairs in Heidelberg.
