Department of Home Affairs

I made an application for a copy of my mother's BI form on the 4th February 2025 at the Port Elizabeth offices, my mother passed away in Cape Town. The consultant told me that it can take between 6 to 8 weeks. She also gave me a telephone number (***) to call and check if the form has arrived.

On the 1st April 2025 I called this number selected the option and got a message that they are receiving a high volume of calls and I can wait for the next operator. I waited for 40 minutes then ran out of airtime. I continued calling that week got the same message but hung up after 15 minutes.

On the 7th April I went into the Home Affairs office and was told the form was not there. After explaining that I tried calling the previous week but got no response she gave me an email address (***). I sent 3 emails to this address and todate have not received any replies.

I went back to the office on the 25th April and was informed that the form was not there. I was there again on the 23rd May and was told again that the form was not there. She said that I can phone or email to find out if the form was available. I explained to her how I have been struggling to get through to the telephone number and that my emails have gone unanswered. She gave me the office number ***) but when I dial that number I get the message that the number does not exist.
