Critical Skill Visa taking forever and no response

I submitted my application for a critical skills visa in March 2015. All the required documentation was met. I have been waiting 4 MONTHS. I fail to see how any reasonable institution can take so long to process a straightforward application. The DHA simply does not care and does not give any feedback on the application. For all I know they may have just lost it, and there is nothing I can do. VFS simply blames the DHA for the long processing time. Meanwhile my life has come to a standstill while I wait. I feel really angry and frustrated about how I am treated. It is a huge waste of my time and has continues to have a huge negative impact on my life as I cannot travel or make any other life plans.
