Complaint for the Department of Home Affairs
For the last 4 months I have been struggling to get my son's ID done after his 16th birthday. At least once a week we would go to the Home Affairs offices in Nigel. But everytime they either have no internet access, slow service connection, or some system is inoperable. Now they have been "offline" for the past 3 weeks. I have never in my life experienced such bad service from the Government Home Affairs Department. Hundreds of people standing outside in the hot sun, having to put up with horrible decomposing dead animal smells, urine smells from people who simply use trees like toilets, the bad odor making you ill, but you put up with it there waiting for hours hoping that maybe Home Affairs would get back online. No dustbins with fields, sidewalks and streets littered with *******. I even watched one lady changing a baby's nappy and then simply disposing it in the open field. Now having to put up urine and decomposing animals, now you add the stench of fresh baby ****. This morning we spent 3 hours waiting outside Springs Home Affairs where the conditions are no better, and then to be told that their systems are also off line. Gone to Boksburg and Benoni as well hoping we would be helped there. But no luck. The service from the Government Home Affairs Department is absolutely **********. The online service is even worse. Why can a person who already has a passport, with all the relevant information already on the Home Affairs System, why can they not simply apply for an ID online? Corroborating and providing proof the you have made no address change in the last 3 to 6 months, why not do it online, when fingerprinting, photo's and all of that is already on the Home Affairs System? Has everything gone to **** with the COVID 19?
