Application for Unabridged birth certificate

My 15 year son was invited to join a friend and his family on a trip to Mauritius about 6 weeks back.I immediately went to the Home Affairs dept in Uitenhage to make applcation for an unabridged birth certificate.I tried phoning them for 10 days in a row but no one evr answers.<br> I then went back to their office in UItenhage last week only to be told that it had not arrived and I must complete further documents so they could follow up.This I did and was promised they would handle it that day.<br> I phoned the Pretoria office this morning as they at least answer their phone.They advise that it still has not been processed AND no follow up request has been made ie their Uitenhage office have obviously done nothing about my follow up.<br> I asked if I could get a \travelling letter"from them in lieu of the birth certificate but was told that it is unlikely as it is normally only given after 8 weeks of application.This clearly does not help me as my son is due to fly on Saturday ie I live in PE and still have to get the document to Cape Town.<br> As with normal Government departments there is no offer of help and understanding.I will go through to the UItenhave dept again tomorrow.Eish"""
