Amendment of surname at home afairs

Good day, i would like to share my disappointment, dissatisfaction with the department of home affairs, i have app**** for the amendment of my surname in September 2020, i was told that the process will take between six and eight months. eight months passed and i have been trying to contact their numbers and there is always no answer not even once there was someone picking up the phone its just rings, i called ample times. when i go to their office i was told that it has not been done, its been 12 months now and i have not received my ID and there is not update i am just told that it has not been done.

how long should i wait for my surname to be corrected, 2 years 3 years?
