Amendment of Birth Certificate

June 2014 I app**** for amendment of Surname for my daughter and I was informed that it will take 6 months. middle January 2015 I went to Home Affairs to fetch the amended birth certificate, when I arrive I was told by one of the official that since August 2014 documents come back due to omission of signature. To my surprise I asked myself and that official why they didn't phone me so that I can come and sign? I couldn't get the answer. I signed the documents in January 2014 and the supervisor at that station promised me that he will ensure that I receive certificate in due course and he will personal facilitate that and apologise. On 26 February 2015 I went to Centurion Home Affairs again cause I didn't receive a phone call and I thought maybe I must go and collect the certificate. on my arrival I went to the supervisor and to my surprise it was for the first time he do a follow up and he told me that is not easy to trace those documents and other option he gave me was to take again the documents in order to complete. I refused to complete other documents. I am grieving cause I feel some people don't understand batho pele principle and that costs ordinary citizens.
