A Service Department that delivers the worst "Service" ever
Sadly, there is nothing good to say about the Department of Home Affairs in Worcester. Operating times states that they open at 08:00. They finally decided to open at 08:30. Bearing in mind that they close at 15:00 or 15:30 this takes half an hour out of an already short day. Absolutely no sympathy is shown for all the people standing outside in the cold, wind and rain and while I understand that they can only allow a small number of people inside due to the whole social distancing thing; why has no one thought of setting up booking slots so that not everyone has to spend the whole day outside? I'm sure there is a way to tell how many people are processed in an hour. Why not allow people who have computers to book a timeslot so that rather than being there for 7 hours (like I was) you can be there for 2. One hour outside and 1 hour inside??? Is it that complicated. Those people who do not have computer access can use their cell phones to book. All this technology is available but unfortunately using it would mean that the process would be way too efficient and maybe even show up those people who do their jobs at a snails pace. Unfortunately as a citizen of this country there is absolutely no recourse against places like Home Affairs. The people who work there are not held accountable for anything. Open late, work as slow as you like, be as rude as you like and Joe Public needs to just suck it up. The cherry on the top???? The Online portal was off due to Covid!!!! Where is the logic in that??? How many things could have been done online in the time that the offices were closed????? Shame on you Home Affairs. I would be embarrassed to be part of an organisation like yours.
