The crippled Department of Home Affairs
Is the Department of Home Affairs in cahoots with the Democratic Alliance ("DA")? My mother (close on 100 years of age) passed away 6 months ago. The Department of Home Affairs issued an erroneous death certificate indicating that my mother was married. She was a widow for approximately 31 years. I have not been able to receive any sensible reaction from the Department of Home Affairs to my numerous ***. The DA party, through the minister of the Department of Home Affairs, is in charge of the Department of Home Affairs. I deem it possible that the DA party has crippled the Department of Home Affairs and it seems that they do not hesitate to tell lies. The head office of the Department of Home Affairs incorrectly states that they have no records that I ever visited the local Department of Home Affairs requesting that my mother's death certificate must be corrected. The local Department of Home Affairs received all the required documentation during April 2026 during my visit to them. The statement of the head office of the Department of Home Affairs also does not reconcile with the fact that they used erroneous information on their system to issue the death certificate of my mother. The DA states that they are not involved in government and that I must approach the Department of Home Affairs. Meanwhile the Department of Home Affairs is not providing any relevant reaction. The DA is part of the Government of National Unity. What a chaos the to and fro of the DA and the Department of Home Affairs. It seems that the Department of Home Affairs is avoiding their responsibility in correcting their errors. It appears that the Department of Home Affairs is preoccupied with the issue of identity cards and immigration issues. The problem through all of this negligence is that I am not able to comply with the prescriptions of the Administration of Estates Act to report my mother's deceased estate. The DA should seriously review their public marketing.

Home affairs telling you they lost your *** is the worst feeling ever
Home affairs I truly disappointed in the quality of service at Home affairs Maponya Mall. I went to fetch my *** and was told it is not available. With the believe I have collected it, told them I did not collect my ***. When they check on the system, it shows that my *** is at Home affairs Maponya. Department of home affairs I need your help, life without an *** is terrible. To add the feeling and thought that my *** is lost bring alot of anxiety what if it was sold, or given to the wrong person. I need the Department of home affairs to assist me.

processing of removing the unknown
I have a case that the is a child that appears under my deceased my who is married and have children, I went to home affairs for the child to be removed from march 2026, and when i went to to home affairs to check if the child that we don't know has be removed under my mother, not not he still appears and that thing is blocking me and my sister from processing our deceased mother and father's estates. they told me to check every two months and the process was done on march, so how long do we have to wait for them to remove the person and for us to process our parents estate. Please help me with the situation because I don't know anymore where to go.

Somerset West, if there was a 0 star rating, I would give them this. As a pensioner you do not expect to spend 4 hours in the hot sun and wind waiting to collect an *** (Not apply, just collect). What a sad state of affairs. Understaffed, no communication from employees, the security guard was not much more helpful and he was just trying to do his best, with no legible communication. Once inside the building, it became apparent that we would be there for a few more hours. Not enough staff, some staff on a 'go-slow', while others are running themself ragged. No coordination. One staff member was trying to handle payments as well as collections, which was disastrous. At 16h00 most of the staff stood up and left for home, leaving two staff members to try and sort out 30+ people! Shocking. Why were so many people allowed into the building to be assisted, when they clearly cannot do so. Lines outside should have been closed by 14h00! I suggest that you go the bank to do your business if possible. Much better service and friendlier too - ASBA Bank in Stellenbosch is fantastic - should have gone back there to collect ID's Home Affairs - time to pick up your game and get with the programme.
