REFUSING TREATMENT OF PATIENT

<p>I went to the People's Clinic today for a general checkup. I have recently stopped taking 1200mg Epilim per day and am having some side effects - so just wanted to clarify things with a GP. Within the past 2 months there have been some miscommunications regarding scripts with a family member who seems to have received S5 medication on my name. I subsequuently contacted the Policlinic Pharmacy to ensure that the invalid script was cancelled - which it was. </p> <p>As I got into the clinic this morning, the nurse asked my surname - as I gave it to her, the first response was "Aren't you the girl with the problems with scripts?". Surprised, I told her that there were some issues, however, I had confirmed all had been cancelled. She then very sarcastically asked me the purpose of my visit - to which I rep**** I just need a check up due to stopping medication cold turkey.</p> <p>She seated me in the waiting room. She returned with my book and took my blood pressure. She then proceeded out the room and got hold of the head GP at this practise - and disclosed VERY PERSONAL & DELICATE information to him in the waiting room!</p> <p>She returned to the room with the Dr who barely greeted me. He opened my booklet, didn't even ask the purpose of my visit and stated (in Afrikaans) that him and his practise REFUSE to see me or treat me in any way and that I must please find another Dr who can assist me. I told him that my GP and psychologist are BOTH in Port Elizabeth and that I am without transport. He responded by saying that is not their problem. He gave my book to the sister and asked me to leave. She then asked where I had parked and escourted me to the door - as though I was a *****.</p> <p> </p> <p>This is completely unprofessional and against all oaths that a Dr takes to be compassionate to patients. The fact that I was shunted away without asking WHY I am there is completely disgusting. Furthermore, Dr-Patient confidentiality has been broken in so many ways it is utterly unbelievable.</p> <p> </p> <p>As they never did their research with the confusion of scripts, they seemingly jumped to conclusions and have maliciously spread my name in their practise.</p> <p> </p> <p>I will NEVER set foot in there again - completely DISRESPECTFUL!</p>
