Nelson mandela academic Hispital

I took my Grandmother to the Mthatha General Hospital, where she was diagnosed with gallstones, liver infection, we Were then told by the doctor that the only way to treat gallstones is to have them removed through an operation however due to the fact that my gran i 101 in age they don't see that as a viable way, however there is another they can explore but they don't have it at Mthatha General hospital so they transferred her to Nelson Mandela academic Hospital. This morning we were told by the doctor that admited her that he is in trouble with the authorities so much that he was told that he should transfer her back to general hospital or else he is going to be disciplined, because this person is old. My question is where are we supposed to take elderly people when they are sick? Why is it a problem to admit an elderly? Who is supposed to treat her if the so called health practitioners are refusing? My fear is that she is being neglected in that Hospital because Dr Mazila said he is being questioned about this client and he is now the only doctor looking after her, now the question is what happens if this doctor knocks off, who will check up on her?

I called the Provincial office in Bisho and i was assisted by Ncumisa, she gave me a reference number. What i would like is for the department to explain this to us; where in the constitution of South Africa does it say an elderly person should not be admitted in a government hospital and after that where should we take them? I can assure you this is not the first casualty to experience this, i can also assure you they are used to doing this. This appalling service, at our own government hospitals should come to an end, and i am not going to take this lying down, even if my gran were to die i will follow this with my all might because i want this person who came with this idea that old people should not be admitted to Nelaon Mandela Hospital or any government hospital for that matter.
