*Subject: Complaint Regarding Unprofessional Conduct and Neglect at Odi District Hospital*

Dear Department of Health,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the level of service and unprofessional conduct I experienced at Odi District Hospital. On [23/09/24 11:30am], I visited the Otolaryngology department due to severe ear pain, only to be informed that the specialist was not available. Despite the department being open, I was told to wait for an appointment, which I have now been doing for over an hour without any attention or assistance.

Throughout this time, I was left sitting on cold benches, feeling completely neglected. To make matters worse, staff members were inside an office, watching TV at a loud volume, seemingly indifferent to the patients waiting to be helped. The only person who approached me was a hospital cleaner, who asked if I had been assisted.

This behavior is completely unacceptable and falls far short of the standards set by the Batho Pele principles. I felt disrespected and disregarded as a patient. Such neglect reflects poorly on the hospital and undermines the trust the public has in our healthcare system.

I urge the Department of Health to address this matter urgently and take appropriate action to ensure that patients at Odi District Hospital are treated with the care and respect they deserve.
