Inverters which short circuit due to dust!!! How can that be? It must be sub-standard

<p>DuringJanuary 2016 I bought a 5kva Mecer inverter from Deltec Rustenburg. Within a few months the inverter gave a constant alarm and did not work. I had to rush to buy a new one in an effort to at least have power.</p> <p>I handed my inverter in for repairs and it was send to Johannesburg. Feedback was that the motherboard short circuit due to dust and bugs. This is where I have a serious problem. This is an inverter. It is mounted against a wall. It does not have a door to open every day to dust-off. Is the motherboard not supposed to be protected against dust and other particles such as bugs?? I have two other similar inverters as well as the replacement one which I have bought, and all of them are working fine. They are installed in similar fasion. </p> <p>I believe the faulty inverter was due to a sub-standard product. And now Deltec wants to charge me R5000 to repair it. If the short circuit was due to dust, it will just short circuit again (I mean it did before!!!!).</p> <p>The other puzzling afair is that this was the same feedback for several other inverters which were send in for repairs at the same time as mine. All short circuit due to dust. </p> <p>According to me it seems that Deltec is selling a sub-standard product to consumers, and they expect consumers to keep on paying for repairs on product faults which should not even exist.</p> <p>Even after I queried this feedback, Deltec (including Branden Austen Renewable energy sales manager who gave feedback to Rustenburg Deltec on the inverters) did not even bother to contact me to clarify this situation. </p> <p>I feel I have waisted my money (approximately R14000) and should have been informed beforehand by Deltec that these inverters short circuit due to dust and is not suitable for use in South Africa</p>
