DELTASH CATERERS **********/******** PAUL/SEGRI

My boyfriend and I decided that after 10 years on dating, we would like to get married.

I called around to various catering companies and found that a company called Deltash Caterers which were the cheapest, and they offered a walk in/ walk out wedding for an IMPRESSIVE price (email attached).

I spoke to a lady called Segri and at first she was really friendly and helpful, but pushy for a deposit to book her “so-called special.” I arranged for a meeting with her and an opportunity to taste her food (email attached).

We met with her that weekend, liked her food and paid the deposit(R6000.00) the within the next week. The balance of the money would be due 60 days before the function.

As part of her package, she offered us a venue.

The problem began when on New Year’s Day the 01/01/2016, she called to say that she needed R4000.00 immediately to book the venue for the date that we wanted, which was the 22/10/2016.

I then told her I could not come up with that amount of cash in a day. She then advised that if I could come up with R2000.00 she would fit the balance. We then paid her the R2000.00 ( receipt attached).

A month later, my boyfriend took his parents to the venue, to view the place. He was then advised by the lady in charge that there was no booking made for us, and that the church was going to be using the venue on the date that we wanted.

We contacted Segri who advised that she will sort this out. A day later we were called to ask if we could change the date as the venue is not available for the 22/10/2016.

We moved our date to the 29/10/2016.

She then called me, on the 23/03/2016, to advise that somehow there was a misunderstanding and the venue is no longer available for October this year.

I then advised her that we will not be changing the date and that we will settle for another venue. Long story cut short, she could not find me a venue and I had to find my own.

We took Segri with us, to the venue, before paying the deposit as we needed to know if the venue could accommodate all the décor that we were paying for and the number of guests(250) that we wanted.

She insisted that the venue was good to ok and all was back on track.

The problems began last week, when my mum called to speak to Segri to discuss the wedding, especially the food, as the wedding is in 3 months and we had not heard anything from her.

On Wednesday last week she called me at work to say that if my mum ever calls her again she will not be doing our wedding and that she will only deal with my boyfriend and i.

We found this a little disturbing and decided to do a bit of research on the company. We were shocked by what we found on the internet.

We then met with her to show her the complaints that we had found and also the threat of her pulling out on us. The trust was already broken by then.

We asked her for a refund of which she agreed, and we also agreed that she could deduct any costs that she might incurred.

She is now taking R5500.00 as part of her costs, which could not be, as my boyfriend was the one who picked them up and dropped them off when we were looking for the venue.

Most of the phone calls were made by myself, especially during the venue incident.

She is refusing to give me a list of her costs that add up to R5500.00 and she refuses to take my calls. She also advised that I must deal with her lawyer but refuses to provide the details.

We have paid her a total of R10500.00
