I purchased this exact model from Delta Incubators and unfortunately my experience has gone from initially very positive to extremely disappointing. The main issue is a **very obvious physical defect in the incubator housing**. The plastic is visibly warped, leaving a gap where the sections of the incubator do not meet properly. This is not simply a cosmetic issue. An incubator needs to maintain a controlled environment, and an unintended opening in the chamber is obviously going to make maintaining humidity more difficult. In fact, I noticed the problem as soon as I assembled the incubator. I immediately questioned how it would be able to maintain humidity with such a significant gap. Once running, the incubator struggled to get the humidity above approximately 30%. When I first reported the defect, Delta Incubators suggested that the plastic **may have warped because the unit overheated during shipping**. I was prepared to accept that as a possibility. They then told me they would get another unit from their warehouse and **inspect it before shipping it to me**. They also asked whether I would like to try repairing the warped plastic myself using a **hairdryer**. I chose not to attempt a DIY repair on a brand-new incubator. The replacement was subsequently sent to me — and it had **the exact same warping and gap in the housing**. At that point, it became very difficult to accept that the original problem was simply shipping damage. If another unit was specifically taken from the warehouse and inspected before being sent to me, yet arrived with essentially the same defect, I would expect the supplier to seriously consider whether the problem lies with the product itself. What made the situation even more frustrating was the subsequent discussion about why the incubator could not maintain humidity. The initial explanation was that the problem could be due to **my location in South Africa**. When I explained that I am based in **KZN**, the explanation changed to the **room** supposedly being too dry. Only after that did I point out that I have other incubators operating in **the exact same room**, and those incubators maintain a steady humidity of approximately 50–60%. The response then moved away from the environmental explanation and became a lesson in how I was apparently supposed to operate the incubator. I was told, and I believe these were the manager's words, that **“you need to understand the whole of the bottom needs to be filled with water and must be topped up to maintain the level.”** My response was that I simply do not have the time to be topping up an incubator every two hours. This is where I found the interaction particularly patronising. I was not asking how humidity works. I was reporting that a brand-new incubator had an obvious physical gap in its housing and was consequently struggling to maintain humidity. Instead of addressing that physical defect, the explanation progressed from my location, to my room, to how I supposedly needed to operate the water reservoir. I also supp**** photographs clearly showing the defect on both units. I was then told that they use the same incubator themselves and have no problems with it. To be fair, my **initial customer service experience was excellent**. When I first reported the problem, Delta Incubators responded quickly and offered a replacement without requiring me to return the original first. That initially gave me confidence that they would stand behind their product. Unfortunately, receiving a second unit with the **same physical defect** changed my view considerably. I have now requested a refund. I understand, from a business perspective, why Delta Incubators wants the units returned and inspected before processing the refund. However, this is also a significant problem for me as the customer. I have a **limited window in which to hatch eggs**, and I have already lost several weeks dealing with these defective units. I now have to return both incubators, wait for them to be inspected and then wait for the refund before I can purchase functioning equipment from another supplier. This isn't simply a case of changing my mind about a product. I have already spent weeks trying to get an incubator that can maintain the conditions required for incubation, received a replacement that has the same physical defect, and am now losing additional time while the units are returned and inspected. I have no interest in receiving another replacement of this model. I simply want the matter resolved and my money refunded so that I can purchase an incubator that does what it is supposed to do. My issue is not that a defective product was shipped to me — manufacturing defects can happen. My concern is that **the same obvious physical defect was present in the replacement unit despite being specifically selected and supposedly inspected before dispatch**, and that the physical cause of the humidity problem was not acknowledged when I raised it. I am posting this review because I believe prospective customers should be aware of my experience with the **Blue Roller 36 Egg Automatic Roller Incubator – Dual Voltage** from Delta Incubators. I hope Delta Incubators resolves the refund promptly. I will be purchasing a different brand for my incubation needs.
