Error in booking luggage to final destination

Good day <br> <br> I wanted to express my frustration with Delta airlines flight from OR tambo to Atlanta airport( Flight no DL0201). I checked in 2 bags to my final destination Bermuda but i had a layover in Atlanta for a few hours. I was not worried about checking for my luggage when I landed in Atlanta only to find to my dismay one of my suitcases on the carousel which had supposedly been checked in to my final destination. <br> <br> I then waited for my second suitcase to come out from the carousel as they were checked in together at the Johannesburg airport. When the second bag was nowhere to be found the Delta staff assured me i would be able to collect my bag at the final destination. Needless to say i arrived at my final destination and no second bag could be found. <br> <br> The shocking thing after phoning Deltas lost luggage service is that with all the tracking systems in place they cannot verify the location of the bag as it is logged as being in both Atlanta and Johannesburg . What irks me is the airlines insisting on reimbur*****t me on a bag with contents which could only be acquired in South Africa and no amount of cash will replace. Please assist as this has gotten out of hand.
