Faulty Dekra Report Allowed Severely Damaged Vehicle to Be Sold – No Accountability

I purchased a Nissan NP200 from We Buy Cars – on 28 Novemer 2024. The vehicle came with a Dekra inspection report that rated it in “good condition” and helped it qualify for a Gold Platinum rating. Based on this, I purchased an extended warranty from Innovation Group for R12,241.00.

Less than 7 months later, the vehicle began leaking water. Nissan inspected the car and discovered the chassis is severely bent — so badly that they couldn’t even fit a new radiator. This is a clear sign of major accident damage, which should have disqualified the vehicle from passing any structural or mechanical inspection.

Yet Dekra’s report failed to flag any of this! It stated:

“Vehicle Body: Good – minimal dents or scratches” “Undercarriage: As Expected” “Axles and Suspension: As Expected – no road safety impact”

How can a vehicle with such extreme structural damage pass as roadworthy and be sold with confidence to an unsuspecting buyer?

As a result:

1)My warranty claim was denied due to pre-existing damage. 2)I am stuck with a structurally unsafe vehicle.

No party – Dekra, We Buy Cars, or Innovation Group – is taking responsibility.

This is not just about a failed warranty — it is a complete failure of due diligence, consumer protection, and transparency.

I demand:

1)A full investigation into this vehicle’s inspection and Dekra’s inspection procedures. 2)Accountability for passing a vehicle with such serious undetected damage. 3)A refund or compensation for the ineffective warranty and vehicle misrepresentation.

Consumers deserve better. This kind of negligence should not be swept under the rug.
