DEFY washing machine faulty motor - still under warranty
Fault Report Timeline: • The faulty machine was reported on Friday, 19 September 2025 at 15h23. • I contacted the call centre on Thursday, 25 September 2025 at 10h45. o The call centre claimed that a technician had called both my number and the alternative number on Monday, 22 September 2025. This is untrue, as no calls were received or logged. o I was told the call centre would call me back, which they did, advising that the technician would arrive later that day. This did not materialise. • I contacted the call centre again on Friday, 26 September 2025 at 10h41, and was informed that the technician was on his way. • I called again at 14h43, requesting confirmation, and was again told the technician was en route. • The technician eventually arrived at 16h21 on Friday, 26 September 2025. • The technician confirmed that the motor was faulty (still under guarantee) and that the power board was fully functional. • On Monday, 29 September 2025 at 08h37, the technician called to confirm that a new motor had been ordered. • On Tuesday, I called the call centre to verify the order, which they confirmed. • On Friday, 3 October 2025, I called again to confirm the technician’s visit. The technician arrived at 14h10. • The new motor was installed, but the installation was performed rather roughly. I believe the power board was damaged during the process. o The installation was unsuccessful; according to the technician, the motor provided was not the correct one. o It now appears that the power board, which was previously working, is no longer functional. • On Monday, 6 October 2025 at 09h48, I again contacted the call centre for an update and also sent a WhatsApp message to the technician. o He eventually responded at 14h28, stating: “Good day sir. I’m waiting for feedback from the service advicer [sic] regarding the motor board as I do have it with me.” • I have now been informed that I must pay for the power board, which was damaged during installation. This is unfair, as the board was functional before the technician’s intervention. I have a witness who can confirm this. • None of these developments were properly communicated to me. • It has now been eleven working days since the fault was initially logged.
