Order placed and money taken but suddenly no stock
I wanted an Ally 2-door TV unit in Wenge from Decofurn to match my coffee table and room divider. Unfortunately, the online site indicated the warehouse did not have stock of Wenge however in-store availability noted Montague Garden in Cape Town did. I contacted Decofurn Customer Services on 31.12.2024 who advised the item was in stock in Montague Gardens and could be sent to my local branch in Boksburg, I was connected with the Boksburg branch who placed the order and sent an immediate sms link to make payment which I duly did after the call ended, on 31.12.2024 at 10h05 (I took a screenshot). I was advised I would be able to collect between 5 and 7 days. I received a call on the afternoon of 06.01.2025 and was advised there is no stock of Wenge but would I like Walnut with black doors, however on 04.01.2025 I received an email alert from Decofurn advising the Wenge was back in stock for purchase online? I was able to quite easily add a the required Wenge TV unit to my cart, although I obviously didn't place a new order as I had one on order already. In-store availability had also increased from 31.12.2024 suggested that an additional 3 stores further to Montague Gardens had stock, albeit low stock. Today I have spoken again with Boksburg and Customer Services who all confirm there is no stock online (warehouse) or any store for that matter, unless you would like a damaged one, and further the item is discontinued. Either the computer stock systems are inferior with automatic stock levels not updating correctly or if this is a manual process, a staff problem. As of right now you can purchase an Ally 2-door TV unit in Wenge online and according to the online store I can collect at Boksburg in 3-4 working days. I am able to check out and reach the payment stage of the transaction. How many people will be purchasing said unit only to receive a call in 5 days advising there is no stock and would you like something else or a refund? You could also visit one of 4 stores which their website indicates do have stock only to be told once you arrive they actually have none. Oops, lets escalate this to IT is what you will be told. I consider a business taking someone's money before doing due diligence and relying on a computer stock system that is clearly faulty, not a business worth supporting.
