Great Start ! But Disappointing Ending

Although the sales staff were helpful and we eventually found what we wanted, things went downhill from there. I paid a deposit to book the item on the Friday, and returned on Saturday for my husband to see it. when we had decided, the sales agent took us to another lady, who worked out the balance, told us about the delivery fee, which we paid happily, and arranged a delivery date which suited us. I paid in full and received an invoice and a receipt. Great. Wed the delivery arrived. Late, but not serious. The fun started when these gentlemen brought this huge box into the lounge. I asked them to remove all the packaging (we were buying a sofa/double recliner). They did so, and then told me that this item required assembly. We had not paid the assembly fee, so that was all they could do. i disagreed as there had been no mention whatsoever of an assembly fee. I phoned the store. the gentlemen told me that yes I had to pay an assembly fee. I pointed out that no-one had mentioned this at any stage. he asked me for my number and promised to get the sales agent to call me. I disagreed and said I would pay in the fee by EFT immediately but I did not want to be left with a half-assembled couch in my lounge. he said the driver could do it but then I would have to pay a call-out fee as well ! I rep**** that the driver was right here right now, so why a call-out fee ? He rep**** that I would have to come into the store to pay first. At this point I asked to speak to a manager. he told me to hold on. I held on for 11 minutes. I could hear the man speaking to clients and staff, answering other phones etc. he did not come back to me. After 11 minutes (I timed it) I put the phone down. I felt that we were deliberately being squeezed for extra money. I also wondered if management knew about 'assembly fee' and 'extra call-out fee'. Was that why I couldn't get to talk to a manager ? In all, I was left with a very low opinion of the store and the staff. If you go there, make sure they tell you every extra expense.
