Deck world - Faulty workmanship and no followup
We ordered a new balustrade for the patio from Deckworld. Rican Wentzel, the owner, installed it himself.
After a few days, the wood began to warp. It took Riaan about 4-6 weeks to come back to repair it.
They removed some of the beams and replaced them with new ones, and secured the upright posts with additional bits of wood, as the balustrade was wobbly. Riaan tried to lay the blame on me, as I had ordered the pine, which was cheaper, as I intended to sell the house soon. At no stage did he say the wood would be inferior and would warp after the first week. It must be mentioned that I paid over R11000 - not a cheapie in anyone's language!
After they had left, I saw that the larger beam did not match the originals in size and had not been sanded down properly, with very noticeable jagged bits being visible to the eye. A few days later, the corners started pulling apart and warping again. The cables were inserted incorrectly and cannot be tightened.
I contacted Dirk, who said he would return \when he was next in my area". I phoned a few times after that but eventually gave up"
