Funds frozen in Hypehen for a none existing account number

I'm a few hundred R's away from paying off my debt throudh Debtsafe, a process wich has taken 5 years.

I've received paid up letters from all my Creditors except Absa vehcile Finance wich is the last creditor still to be settled.

I've instructed Debtsafe to distribute all the funds to ABSA, as this is the last remaining creditor. Now there are funds frozen in Hyphen that were supposed to be distributed to ABSA,

I've once again contacted FNB Legal and went into a branch, there is no reccord of the account that Debtsafe says they still need a paid up letter for.

Imagine going to the bank and asking them for a letter or proof that an account that youve been paying off for 5 years doesnt exsist!!

The bottom line is.....funds are frozen in Hyphen and Debtsafe is refusing to distribute accordingly. Anna-Marie is my Debt counsellor and it's been an uphill battle to get anything done.

I'm not making a payment to Debtsafe now or ever again. You have my my money frozen in Hyphen and that amount, if paid to ABSA, will settle my debt.

Please sort this out I cannot spend more time, effort and money on phone calls to sort out a simple thing like this.

I tried several times to contact you telephonically but with no success of getting hold of you.

Please kindly be advised that the FNB account ***** paid in full but we are unable to remove the account as we have not yet received the paid up letter from FNB. The funds will therefore be suspended and frozen at Hyphen until we receive the paid up letter.

Please kindly note that August R1464.13, September R2458.13 and October R2631.13 a total amount of R6553.39 was refunded to you on 07/10/2016 as you requested.

The payment for November for the amount of R1853.13 is currently frozen at Hyphen and will also be refunded, the refund should be finalised in the first week of December.

Please understand that the payments to FNB will continue, the funds will be frozen at Hyphen and then refunded to you. This will continue until we have received the paid up letter from FNB.

FNB has confirmed that the account has a credit balance and once they have refunded you then the paid up letter will be issued.

We do follow up regularly and hope to have the matter resolved soon.

Thank you.

Roxanne,

Thank you for the response.

I’m struggling to understand why FNB cannot find the ********** 037303 account on their system. Neither the Legal department nor a branch, was able to provide me with any information regarding this account, they could not find it on their system.

How will I then be able to give you a paid up letter for an account that doesn’t or no longer exists if even when FNB fails to have any knowledge of it?

May I please have contact details for the person you are dealing with at FNB?

Good day Mr. Lamprecht,

We spoke to Mamokgadi at FNB who confirmed that the account is paid up but the paid up letter cannot be issued due to the fact that the account has a credit balance. Once the refund has been done then the paid up letter will be issued and sent to us. We will send you the paid up letters as soon as we receive same.

You can contact FNB directly on ***.

Kind Regards,

Roxanne de Klerk
