PAYMENT ONTO A PAID UP ACCOUNT ABSA CREDIT CARD

The last few months has been an absolute headache with Debt Rescue and Absa. Mail after mail and just not getting anywhere.

My Absa Credit card was paid up in August 2018. Then a year later Debt Rescue started making payment towards my Absa credit card again. When I queried it, I was told Debt Rescue made a mistake and the Credit Card was never paid up. Thinking this can't be right I queried it at Absa, where Absa responded it was indeed paid up and the Credit Card was removed from debt review to be closed, but Absa never closed it. The will reverse the fees accumulated and close the account, I notified Debt Rescue immediately, which in the first place if they did their jobs the would not make a payment onto a PAID UP ACCOUNT A YEAR LATER!

Thinking it's now all sorted, the following month Debt Rescue went and paid onto a PAID UP ACCOUNT AGAIN. I mailed them and asked what the hell? No response or just we contacted Absa they take 10 working days to reply. Then Debt Rescue went and made yet another payment onto a PAID UP ACCOUNT. THIS IS NOW 3 PAYMENTS!

After a lot of mails and fighting they finally stopped paying it. Now I am struggling to get answers on WHAT IS HAPPENING WITH THE MONEY THAT WAS PAID ONTO A PAID UP ACCOUNT.

This is really ridiculous!

Hopefully now I will get a response!!!!

STILL NOT GETTING ANYWHERE!!!!!!

DEBT RESCUE RESPONSE TO ME ON MAIL:
Good day
Trust you are well
We have tried contacting you on your provided contact details we were unfortunately no able to get hold of you. We have looked into your query and would like to bring the below to your attention:
  • The balance on our proposal had ran out and subsequently the system stopped allocating payment to the account and therefore the monies that were going to the account were redistributed to the remaining creditors wich then assisted in making other accounts to be settled sooner. The creditor later provided us with an updated balance on the account and we have reactivated the account and made provision for the account to receive payment as per agreed.
  • The balance listed on the statements received from Hyphen are merely indicative only of the indebtedness to the credit provider and are not guaranteed to be accurate.
  • The opening balances used are as per COB received from Creditors and Hyphen deducts any payments made from the balance provided.
  • We conducted a review on your profile and requested balances from all your creditors and upon receiving the balances we updated our system. A paid up letter is a document that confirms the account is settled and closed.
  • The payments that were made to the account were all made before the paid up letter was issued. We have confirmed with creditor that there account was not over paid.
We trust you find the above in order.
Kind Regards,

MY RESPONSE TO DEBT RESCUE:
Good day,
You know this is what is making me so upset! I have to do the work you are getting a fee for every month.
Firstly, I had one phone call and the phone rang like twice and then the call was disconnected. So, thank you for trying to phone me one time and then take it as you cannot get hold of me.
Secondly, and I honestly don't know how many more times and to how many different people I have to say this and attach proof of it. But let me try one more time.
My Absa credit card was in fact paid up. Absa confirmed that it was paid up and taken off debt review in 2018 to close the account. On their side it was then never closed and accumulated fees again. I have attached the mail from Teresa Maritz at Absa that confirmed it on 8 August 2019. She also confirmed that the balance will be reversed and the account will be closed. At that stage only one payment was made to the Credit Card. I immediately notified Debt Rescue. After the Debt Rescue still made two more payments.

After the second payment on 4 September 2019 and many more mails, I finally got Debt Review to understand that the account is paid up. I even got a paid-up letter on 19 September 2019. Then on 27 September yet another payment was made, and take note that after a paid-up letter was sent to me. Then I had to start all over again.

I got Debt Rescue so far to stop paying an account that was paid up a year ago but now I want to tell me that the account was not overpaid, and you say that was confirmed by the creditor.

Now this is the best part off all. You are telling me today 13 November 2019 that the credit card was not over paid, but yesterday 12 November 2019 I received a mail from Banzi Maya, from Absa stating that the account is paid and that the over paid amount will be transferred to my Absa loan account. I also attached the mail for you.

So please tell me, how you did your investigation? And claiming that the creditor in this case Absa has confirmed the account was not over paid, but yet to me Absa acknowledge that is was over paid and that the money will be transferred to my Absa loan account.

Please get back to me ASAP, because if Debt Rescue make one more payment to my Absa credit card, I will take the matter further.

Kind Regards,

Karien Barnard
