do not use debt rescue ever!!

Hi, In 2015 at the end of the year I was offered a job and needed to relocate from Pta to Cape Town. I realized that the prices to rent was much higher in Cape Town and therefor decided that I would consolidate all my debt into one amount, to free up money and also in order for me to finally pay of my total debt to put myself into a position to buy a place of my own. So, I contacted debt rescue voluntarily and made arrangements to go onto their scheme to get this done. It made sense at the time. I started paying not long after that and continued paying ON TIME for almost 4 years, while in the meantime saving whatever I could as time went by. In the beginning of 2019 I started to see that a time would come where I would be able to pay off the rest of my debt in one installment and be done with it all. I contacted debt rescue to find out when my last payment would be. They advised that it would be around 2021, which was what I was told on the phone in the beginning. I then also started to go through my Hyphen pda statements to see what was outstanding. While doing this I realized that my ABSA account has basically been standing still for the entire period of time... how I missed this right from the start is beyond me.. anyway, I called again to query and debt rescue told me that it is because of interest rates etc... I understood this and requested for them to 'up' the amount that I was paying in order for me to still finish in 2021. They said that it cannot be done and that my new date for finishing is now 2023. I disputed this as I was told 2021, but even after they gave me this date on the phone, they now cleverly stated that this is no where is the contract I signed. I accepted this as I didn't really have much of a choice. This but me back 2 years, and whatever I had saved and the plan that I had to settle my debt, went out the window. Obviously I was rather upset because of this. Some months later I managed to get the amount outstanding and could now finally settle my debt completely. I contacted debt rescue and asked for settlement amounts. This took them some time to do as the banks take 5 to 10 working days to respond. within those days I called the banks and got the settlements myself. Please note that this was near the time that they deducted the full amount from my acc. Hyphen would send me a message 2 or 3 days before I get paid and by the time the salary hit my acc the money would already not be there. Which I was fine with, I understood and still understand why it is done like that. Anyway, so I let them know I will be paying the settlements, yet they still deducted the amount off my acc anyway, I guess I can understand that also, as you cannot trust someone that just tells you he will pay and then he does not. I did however pay the full amounts to all my debtors, which means that because of the amount that was deducted, I have in effect now paid every debtor an extra payment. I contacted DR and explained this to them and asked them if I could just reverse that payment and all would be even. They advised me to not do it and that they would take care of the refunds, just as they told me not to speak to banks right from the start, just as they advised me that my debt would be paid by 2021... and then that did not work out like that. I decided to trust them as it was an amount of over R8000 which I was owed now. Imagine that, debt free, with institutions actually owing me. This is when the rabbit hole just started getting deeper... I paid my last debt around the 28th of August, the last amount was deducted on 25th of the same month. I started wrestling with debtors and debt rescue for the refunds. banks take 5 to 10 days to just answer and DR takes at least 48 hours to answer a mail. It took me more than a month to find out that my first debtor had actually paid them back on the 13th of September, yet I saw nothing of that money.. They were happy to keep the money in their acc for the entire time without saying anything to me. Finding this out was also not by accident, I spent hundreds of Rands on mails and plenty of time on mails following up every 5 to 10 days. I called everyone and mailed everyone. R8000 might not be a lot of money to some, but it is a lot of money to me and, it is MY MONEY and I want it back. I paid on time and it was time for them to repay the favor now. I understand that banks etc take time, but this does not bug me because DR told me, they would take care of it and they did not. We are now on the 12th of November and from the 5 debtors I have received the money back from 4. On this last one I have asked nicely and I have threatened.. I have tried everything and now it even seems like the lady at DR has decided to start ignoring me. The last time I spoke to her was the 31st of October and she asked me for yet another extension to the Monday to which I said no... I did however wait once again. (trust me, if someone tells me 5 to 10 days, it is not a joke to me anymore). That Monday has come and gone, we are now another week and a bit later and I mailed again yesterday but no response. I know not what to do anymore to just get that last payment in my acc. I went to them voluntarily and in good faith but I would strongly advise anyone against using this service. It does not end up cheaper, but more expensive as my absa acc and another one went down so little every month, that my pay back time grew with 2 years. This might have been more if I stayed with them longer. Although the people at DR are friendly, once you settle your debt and cancel the debit order and they make nothing more off of you, you become nothing to them. I wonder if this remaining amount is now lying in their acc earning interest, like the first amount was, for over a month. They say they will handle everything for you, but when the time comes for them to handle the business at the end of it all, they just do nothing. 99% of all the info that I was finally able to get from them, I had already found out from the debtors myself, long before DR even cared to follow up. When I asked to speak to a manager, or just someone that can give me proper info, they would change the subject and make more empty promises.. This is the worst experience I have ever had, dealing with any company! If I ever had to get into debt again I would rather file for bankruptcy than use them again. The worst part is, we are not even talking about a big amount of money that is still outstanding. The problem is, I want it sorted, so that I can go on with my life.
