I had to unfortunately go under debt review late last year. I was very unsure of who to chose as a debt counselling company but decided to go with Debt Rescue as they had great reviews. In the beginning, they acted fast, I didn't quiet understand what was going on but left it to the professionals. Well so I thought. Very long story short. After they had taken their fee correspondence started to become delayed. A few other smaller things happened but the cherry on the cake was I changed my bank details on the 8th of December 2023. On the 27th of December 2023 they tried to take money from my previous account which bounced as there were no funds in that account. Tried to reach them with no luck, the phones rang, and the WhatsApp messages went unanswered, and so did the emails. No out of offices anywhere. Turns out they were closed. Fast forward to January 2024. They only changed my bank details the first week in January 2024, almost a month since I submitted my mandate to change my banking details. They then took the installment off on the 10th of January 2024. I then received an SMS from an attorney stating debt rescue had handed me over for collections. I called the attorney and they advised that they could see my payment but were not advised by debt rescue that I had paid. When I got through to someone at debt rescue they said that should not have happened, and will get a manager to get in touch with me. The issue was escalated. From then till now I am still waiting for a manage at debt rescue to call me. I can name and shame a few employees but I don't feel that is the right thing to do. The right thing to do is to walk your client through the process step for step. Call them and talk them through the correspondence they do not understand and most of all, do something as simple as change details when requested.
