My Experience with Debt Rescue So Far

Currently, I am with Debt Rescue, and I am very unhappy with my experience. Before I explain why, I would like to give some background on why I initially looked for financial assistance.

During COVID, my spouse lost her job. As the only person working, I had to carry the full financial burden. This became extremely stressful, and some months I honestly thought we would not survive financially, especially when unexpected expenses kept coming up.

My spouse saw the stress I was going through and tried to help by finding ways to make money. Unfortunately, in the process, she was ****med. The money she used to fund what she was working on came from my credit card, which added even more stress to an already difficult situation.

Eventually, my spouse found a job. During this time, I discovered that she had accounts that had not been paid because she was afraid to tell me about them. She made payment arrangements while she was working, but unfortunately, this resulted in a poor credit record.

In December 2025, we got married. Before taking the next steps in our lives together, we decided to seek professional help to get rid of our debt and combine everything into one manageable monthly payment. We did our research and chose what was advertised as “South Africa’s number 1” — Debt Rescue.

Unfortunately, from the very beginning, there were issues.

They set up the debit order, but the necessary arrangements were not properly finalised with all the service providers. When the payment dates came around, Debt Rescue deducted their amount while the service providers also deducted their payments. This put us under even more financial strain instead of relieving it.

Fast forward a few months, and we discovered that some of my wife's accounts were not being paid, despite Debt Rescue deducting money and assuring us that all accounts were being paid.

I had planned for the next three years with the goal of becoming debt-free, and I will definitely be writing a full review of my entire experience from start to finish. This is only a short overview of how my journey began.

Let's hope it ends well.

For now, however, I would not recommend Debt Rescue to anyone. In my experience, the debt review process was not properly explained to us. It felt as though the main focus was to get us signed up as quickly as possible.

My advice to anyone considering debt review is to speak to someone who has actually gone through the process. Get advice from people with first-hand experience and make sure you fully understand how debt review companies operate before signing anything.

I will definitely be willing to assist and share my full experience with others once this process is finally over. Let's hope it ends well.
