OPERATION COSTING ME 90K (EXCLUDING MY MONTHLY PREMIUMS)OUT OF MY POCKET IN THIS UNSTABLE FINANCIAL ECONOMY AND DAY1 ONLY R700.00

The underwriters for Day1 Medical Insurance is the worst, leading to this medical insurance company being the worst.

Two different operations had to be performed on me at the same time on one day.

Although I was in terrible pain I was discharged the same day due to the hospital policy which was implemented due to Covid-19 pandemic to safe guard patients from possible contamination

Due to this rule, Day1 refuse to pay out the 20k which they guaranteed.

My whole operations to date are costing me nearly 90k out of my pocket and Day1 R700.00 for a part refund on my 1st visit specialist visit.

I took out an insurance as I am not a sickly person, however regret the day that I signed up with Day1.

Good day

I did refer this matter to the Ombudsman.

I posted this experience for consumer's to be aware, mislead and not to be dealing with institution's such as your organisation.

Dear Mrs Parisi,

Thank you for your recent post.

As discussed telephonically, whilst Day1 Health abided by the terms and conditions of its Policy Wording in rejecting your claim due to the fact that your hospital admission was less than the required 24 hours, we are of the view that there is merit in exploring whether your attending surgeon would be amenable to furnishing us with a motivational letter stipulating that the reason for your early release from hospital was due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic in which case we would be in a position to recommend to our insurer / underwriter that they, in the circumstances, honour your claim.

Rest assured, we shall revert to you on Monday, the 16th of November 2020 with further progress made regarding your matter as your attending surgeon has been away on leave and only returns to his practice then.

Dear Mrs Parisi,

We trust that you are recovering well from your operations.

From our side, we are pleased that we were successful in obtaining a motivational letter from your attending specialist upon his return from annual leave and that our insurer’s were then in a position to honour your hospital claim as per our daily stated benefits.

Kind Regards,
Day1 Health
