Health Insurance Plan
I received a telephone call from Day1 Health on 20 February 2018 to take out health insurance. I advised the consultant that I asked for someone to phone me a while ago.
He asked if I am still interested, I said yes but I don’t think Day1 Health covers woman that are already pregnant, he said to me no they do there is just a 3 month waiting period. I asked him are you sure because I am currently pregnant and I don’t want us to waste time if I am not going to be covered; he said yes you will be covered. He even advised me on which hospitals they use and the amount that the birth will be covered. I said ok if that is the case lets proceed with the application.
The application was done, I asked him for copies of the documentation because I wanted it in writing to make sure that I am covered.
I received the documents today via email and the documents confirmed that there is a 3 month waiting period. I thought to myself wow this is good news. I rep**** to the email and asked them to confirm once again for me that I will be covered because the sales consultant Edward Edson and their documents already confirmed that there will only be a three month waiting period.
To my surprise I was advised no that is incorrect there is a 12 month waiting period. I said but this is contradicting to what is in your documents and to what your sales consultant explained to me.
I was contacted by Jason who advised me that there is no such thing as a 3 month waiting period, I said to him he needs to request for the telephone recording where Edward confirmed with me that I will be covered. I also told him that their documentation confirmed that there is only a three month waiting period.
DAY1 HEALTH is one misleading company and they take forever to phone you back or to respond to your email queries.
This matter needs to be taken further with the CMS Council and I intend to do that.
