Appalling Service from Day 1 Health
I have been a member of Day 1 Health since September of 2016, I chose the platinum membership because it catered for all my needs. In December of 2017, Day 1 Health decided to change the cover and did not notify me as a client, not giving me an option to decide whether or not I want to remain with them. In January 2018, I need to have a medical procedure done which only then I discovered that things have changed. on the 12 February I had to have surgery, which Day 1 Health had given a GOP for R 21 500, and when the hospital submitted their account, they gave some bull**** story and only paid the Hospital R 10 000 for the 2 days I was there. Now being a member who seldom made use of the services, I was disgusted to know that they toy with people and their money like this... I have to cover more that 90% of the hospital cover on my own and they did not cover any of the drs bills either.... leaving me with all the expenses.
I have now cancelled my services with them with immediate effect and they expect me to give them 1 months notice. Totally unfair, what exactly are they going to use my money for...
Being in the services industry myself, I cannot make decisions on behalf of my clients for their money that they paying...
This service is appalling.
I plan to take this matter further to Ombudsman or medical Council .
