*********** and dishonest! avoid like the plague!

Everything about this place is a LIE! Starting with the name...there is no "son", theres only Darren and his wife Amesh.

Secondly, the reviews on Google...look at the one by "Kuben Pather", he also happens to be "Head Mechanic" - http://darrenandson.com/about/. Conflict of interest perhaps?

Thirdly, Long story short, I took my car there for a starting issue. Next thing, I'm told I needed a new water pump, expansion tank, thermostat, tappit cover gasket, oil filter housing gasket. This all came to R22,000. I was hesitant to pay but Darren was very convincing.

The work was done and upon fetching the car, I noticed a plug was disconnected in the engine bay. Upon asking Kuben, he said I should leave it like that. I was not convinced. When I insisted it should be connected, the car wouldn't start. So now, after spending more than R20k, the car is in worse condition than when I brought it in.

After back and forth, I got the car back with the starting problem never resolved. A few months later, the car overheated. I took it to Darren and he told me I needed a new radiator, head gasket, and cylinder-head reconditioning. His estimate came to R22,000.

Not convinced, I got a 2nd opinion. What a surprise! the new mechanic showed me that the problem was the water pump, something I paid for and should have been replaced by "Darren and Son". The date on the water pump that came from the car is from 06, my car is a an '07 so it was the original pump the car was made with. I replaced the pump with the new mechanic and the car is fixed..

These people are *********** and DISHONEST!
