I put down a deposit of R1000 for a Silver Dapple Dachshund with Johan. When we got there, the mother had given birth to 10 puppies. This is the second time she has given birth to 10 puppies and the second time they have had to cut her open. The puppies looked rather ill and weak at 7 weeks old and therefore we did not want to take one. Johan then called us as he had not met with us in person like we had arranged, (I dealt with his gardener instead) and was extremely rude to us because we did not want to take one of those puppies.

The attitude I received from him was extremely distasteful and unprofessional and at R6000 a puppy, his behaviour is disgusting and his puppies are ridiculously expensive!! I was also not allowed to see the parents of both the puppies I purchased and from what I could see from around the corner, the dogs were kept in extremely small cages.

Please do not believe alot of these good reviews here about him. He is *************, dishonest!

From the research I have done, double dapple dachshunds have white markings (often on their face) from 2 dapple genes hitting one another. This is caused by breeding 2 dapples with each other which can cause blindness, deafness and other deformities. Bearing this in mind, I saw a couple of his dogs with white markings on their face. I am therefore concerned that he is breeding double dapple dachshunds.

I have found a much better breeder not too far outside of Johannesburg with much nicer dapple dachshund puppies who is Kusa registered and their puppies are half the price and appear to be much better looked after.

I will certainly never purchase a dachshund from Johan!
