mislead upon registration
I am so grieved by treatment I was given by Damelin Braamfontein. Last year on the 26th of August 2017 I went to Damelin Braamfontein to register for Corporate Strategy as the last module to complete my ICB diploma.
Before I signed with them, I explained to Mr. Ashley Soobramone, one of their student advisors that I had my 13 modules with Damelin Correspondence and wanted to do the last module full time provided I get graduate with all the other learners upon completion of my diploma.
Mr. Soobramone advised me that he will enquire for me during the week and will give me feedback. I just took the forms I didn’t register as I was waiting for the feedback on whether I will graduate or not.
Before the end of the week, he got back to me and told that I will be able to graduate with other learners, since I had done all the other modules with Damelin Correspondence which is one entity with them.
On the 2nd of September 2017 I went on to register and commenced with my classes.
On the 13th January 2018 I received my results and I passed Corporate Strategy. I was overjoyed to have finished my course was eagerly looking forward to graduating with the other learners like I was told in the beginning.
I then went to Mr. Robert Chabalala to enquire about the graduation part and he stated:
· You can only graduate if you’ve done 50% of your modules with us. In your case you won’t graduate but I will enquire with the academic manager and get back to you.
On the 30th of January 2018 he sent me an email which read as follows:
Thanks for your email. I have consulted with the Academic Manager regarding your issue. Unfortunately, you cannot graduate with us. The reason is you did not do the entire course or at least 50% part of your course with us I do understand their 50% policy, that one I cannot argue with.
And Mr Ashley also rep**** to Mr Roberts email, which read as follows:
I asked Tebogo Kekana from Part time academics , if the learner will graduate after completing this modules and was advised Yes. However Mr Robert informed us that this isn’t true. Can we advise the learner on how she will go about graduating Mr Rob?
And after this email, i was ignored. No one said anything, they left me hanging.
My question or my query is why was I mislead at the beginning of the registration, no one came up with or told me about this college policy before registration?
All I hear now is the college policy.
