MISGUIDED AND TREATED UNFAIRLY

I have sent an email and made numerous phone calls to state that due to financial issues I would not be able to continue with studies in 2017. A debit order was deducted in 2017 October whereby I phoned to ask who I can speak to arrange that the full course be cancelled as I would not be able to attend classes or make any payments for the remainder of 2017. I was directed to speak to Eileen De Beer. During these calls I asked of I could have a refund for the payemnts made so far and she said that credits would not be made avaialbel but she could assist me in arranging that 50% be paid towards 2018 studies as I wanted to change courses in 2018. She asked me to put this in wirting which I did and on the email I also asked what procedures can be taken to ensure that the course is cancelled as I can not attend classes anymore. This was because Eileen said that I would have to pay for the classes I have attended and I confirmed that I only ended classes in September of 2017 and she confirm telephonically that if I do not attend classes then I would noit have to pay and this is how I understood the matter and no further payments towards Damelin was made.

Nowhere either telephonically or via response to my email where I asked what must I do as I do not have all this knowledge as I am only a student., nowhere was there mentioned that I would be held liable for full course payments or that any additional amount is still due after all emails and telephonically arrangements.

I have received an SMS on 09 Februarie from damelin stating I have payments overdue. After phoning , Mrs De Beer stated that I would have to pay for the full 2017 semester even if I did not finish the course as my contract stipulated this. I argued to state that I specifically phoned in October 2017 to have the de registration and cancellation of the course confirmed and to find out if there would be any consequences to this and none other was given to me or stated to make sure that I would not have to pay anything else because I could not finish my course. I do not have a busury or a family to pay my fees and I am 100% responsible for all my own accounts. I specifically phone Mrs De Beer who I understand is the accounts manager to ensure what the exact procedure and conditions would be when not continuing with course and that fact that I would have to pay for the full year was not mentioned once. What was mentioned to me is that I would not have to pay any other funds and that a % of the funds paid would me moved over to 2018 if I wish to continue but I would have to re-register for the full course which I understood as explained. I do remember specifically asking if I would have to make any payments and as I understood none was to be made.

Unfortunately I was not notified to have to pay the remainder of the semester fees and I do not have the funds to do so.

I would have loved to continue my accounting course through Damelin but I feel that I have been treated very unfairly in this matter and I bill was just thrown to me without any consent or notification.

I am a young and responsible 24 year old lady and I work with contracts daily but I do not see this as a fair matter as I was miss informed and misguided due to lack of information. Mrs Eileen advised that if I do not make payments that I would be handed over for unpaid fees. As I have this bill now outstanding I cannot even budget for further studies in this semester and this situation that I was not made aware of has put me in a difficult financial position and my own academic planning for the rest of this semester has been damaged and thrown of course.
