Lecturers -Disappointing Payment Experience with Damelin College - Braamfontein Campus

I write this post with a heavy heart and deep disappointment regarding my experience as an independent contractor lecturer at Damelin College, Braamfontein Campus. From September 2023 to December 2024, I dedicated my expertise and time to lecture their National Diploma in Media and Graphic Design. However, despite fulfilling my obligations, I have yet to receive payment for my services.

Every month since my contract ended, I have been assured by the Academic Manager that my payment was imminent, only to be met with excuses and delays. Despite the graduation of students and the completion of my duties, I find myself buried in debt due to the late payments, incurred bank charges, and unpaid bills.

Adding insult to injury, in March/April, I was approached to assist the college further in contacting students, all while still awaiting compensation for my previous work. This request exemplifies the lack of respect for my time and financial well-being.

Moreover, upon resigning in January 2024, I discovered that Damelin College was to be deregistered this year, a fact conveniently omitted during my employment. Despite reaching out to the General Manager regarding my outstanding payment, I received no response, further deepening my frustration.

To the Academic Manager and the General Manager: I have been patient and understanding, but my patience is wearing thin. If my payment is not made in May as promised, I will have no choice but to pursue legal action through small claims court to retrieve the compensation rightfully owed to me.

I urge anyone considering employment or collaboration with Damelin College to reconsider, as my experience has been nothing short of disappointing and disrespectful.
