Consumers are not ice cream suckers!
(This is the text of a post in my FB page to day and shared with some FB groups) What a ****** Cheek!!!!! Some time ago the ice cream manufacturers quietly reduced their 2litre tub content to 1.8l. Of course, this happens all the time across the retail grocery spectrum and whilst consumers lament the practice and the lack of transparency in these actions, it is a fact of life. But, I think that Dairy**** have just out-performed all of the rest in their latest offering/action though: their current 2l tubs carry a little announcement in one corner of the lid: "MORE VALUE. Now 2l". Jeez, if that doesn't take the cake and who's fooling who here?!?! To save costs and/or protect the profit levels they reduced the content back then. Now, perhaps because of the constraints to consumer spending during the Covid lockdown, they think that by announcing that they've gone back to 2l, consumers will think it's a bargain and not remember the previous content reduction??? Pull the other one Dairy****!!! Consumers are not ice cream suckers! See also this for "BIGGER VALUE PACK. NOW 2L" https://www.reddit.com/r/southafrica/comments/dg2b3o/did_these_chops_really_think_we_wouldnt_notice/ (Pics: 1 from PnP's web site product offerings, the other from an actual tub lid and - coincidence? - the Dairy**** web site is under construction so can't source a pic from there - nudge, nudge, wink, wink !)
