Terrible experience. Alan did the worst tile job I ever witnessed as an architect with 20 years’ experience. The tiles had to be completely stripped out and replaced because he used an incorrect method of adhesion, did not follow drawings, details and instructions, created waterproofing problems on the terrace, could not provide site supervision and refused to liaise with other trades. He could not come up with a plan to rectify his mistakes. He accepted a deposit to install a timber floor, did not deliver an inch of material nor did a stitch of work, could not give me a commencement date then stopped communicating and absconded with the deposit. Save yourself a lot of headache and do not appoint this guy.
