REFUND DELAY BY D. A. S. S. RUSTENBURG OWNER FOR INCORRECT CAR DIAGNOSIS
Took my car to DASS due to overheating problem. This was a on the 26th of April 2023, a day after the problem started and explained to the owner that i had already taken the car to VH Hatfield and they identified the problem to be assosiated with the pipe leaking that supplies water to the cooling system or something of that sort. I even mentioned that the was steam coming from the air con when switching it on however upon DASS' diagnosis the owner phoned me to tell me that they identified the problem to be thermostat failure which they then replaced. The impression given was that once the thermostat is replaced the overheating issue would've then resolved. It then turned out that the thermostat was not the problem but the leaking pipe as i had explained to the owner earlier. They had charged me an exorbitant R4 847.25 for replacing the thermo including labour and wanted me to pay an extra R3.5K for the heater radiator which if they had fixed before I wouldn't have requested to pay any additional costs as the thermostat was not the problem. This to me was pure incorrect diagnosis. I informed the owner of my dissatisfaction upon which he gave me an option to bring the car back to be repaired without pay the additional costs or for a full refund. I requested a refund but that he only refund me 50% of the invoice as he had replaced the thermostat. He promised that he will refund the money first thing in the morning of the 02nd of May 2023 however that did not happen. I enquired about the refund on the 03rd of May 2023 and he confirmed to have made the refund on the morning of the 03rd May 2023. Because I was not sure from which bank account the money is coming I gave him the benefit of the doubt and waited 24hrs for the money to reflect on my bank but there was nothing. This morning (05th of May 2023) I enquired again and requested that he send me proof of payment but instead of providing me with proof the response was "I'll have a look at it now" and requested that I provide him with my banking details which I had already provided him with when the refund matter was first discussed. I doubt the refund was even made to begin with why then would he find it so difficult to provide me with proof of payment?
