Shocking Treatment
To all parents who are considering putting their child into Curro Castle Wilgeheuwel, please think again after reading this. We were warned by many friends not to put our son into Curro as they are just a business. We unfortunately never listened and learnt the hard way.My son was one of the first kids to start at the Curro Castle Wilgeheuwel when they opened their doors in 2017. Seemed like a great school as they had primary and high school all on one premises and were promised in orientation that the classes would be 25 kids( Now to find out there are 35 kids in a class). In 2017 we did have some teething problems but as a parent we wanted the best for our son and we did what ever the teacher and principle asked. They suggested in the beginning of 2017 that we take our son to a psychologist as he was lashing out at his peers. (please bear in mind he was only 3 years old at the time). Psychologist recommended he go for Speech Therapy. We did just that. After a lot of sessions his teacher at the time could see a difference in his behaviour and so we carried on with speech. We did recommend that my son be put into a class with a more older and experienced teacher for 2018 and they said they will do so. 2018 came and to find out my son was put into a class that the teacher was an assist in 2017 but claims she has had 13 years teaching experience. She seemed nice at the time and would give her the benefit of the doubt but as 2018 year started things started going upside down. My husband would get daily calls from the school saying my son wouldn't listen. It came to a point where my husband had to call a meeting with Karen and Oriel as this was getting ridiculous with all the phone calls and the way the school is explaining our son is not like him. Oriel then suggested we send him to a play the******. Again like the school asks we did. In March 2018 I collected my son from school and all the kids were playing outside. Then I saw something very disturbing. I Group 4 teacher grabbed another kids hand and hit my son on the arm and through the face. I couldn't believe what I had seen. The teacher at the time never saw me witnessing the whole thing. As I confronted her she said my son wasn't listening. When I got home I told my husband and he raced to the school, when my husband asked what had happened she admitted fault and her excuse was she was having a bad day. Come on you are a teacher and its ******* to hit a child. If that's how you operate then you shouldn't be a teacher. We were going to take this further but we would give her the benefit of the doubt. Apparently that teacher was dealt with. I could kick myself now for not taking action. That same week a parent messaged me and said that they walked passed my sons class and couldn't believe how his teacher was taking to the class. my son was standing at the classroom door to greet the parents and his teacher grabbed him by the arm, shouted at him and smacked him on the bum. When we questioned the school about this they denied everything and when we asked to see video footage they said the cameras weren't working that day. My question is how many other times have their hit my son and other kids. I couldn't believe this we are all trying to help my son with speech and play therapy but the school is not bothered. This was always a loosing battle they would never take responsibility for anything and was always my sons fault. Seems like some of the teachers are only worried about their own children in the school. My sons teacher at the time was constantly next door with her daughter. Curro is BIG into their Anti-Bulling but let me tell you what, the first ones to bully these kids are some of the teachers. Principle Karen also has no respect for parents, the way she would phone my husband and shout at him was not on. My son would come home and say teacher Karen(Principle) says I must find another school only if I behave I can come back. what kind of example are you setting out for these kids. The list can go on regarding this school. When the play the****** did the school visit my sons teacher sat in the meeting with a mouth full of teeth and never said a single word. So come one, you the first one to actually belittle him. The staff all stuck together and never ever listened to our concerns. The play the****** said my son suffers from anxiety. We have now removed him from the school and put him in another school and you cannot believe the BIG change in my son. So it just shows you how the school operates and they couldn't give a dam. I'm just warning all parents out there be careful.
