Cure Day Clinic Erasmuskloof - perhaps it is your doctors that need healing.

<p>I brought my 24 month old son with Down's syndrome to Cure Day Clinic in December to check out a black spot on the bottom of his foot. The dermatologist asked me for how long have I known about this spot and then told me that it distresses her that I've taken so long to bring him in (I've known abut this spot for three months). She then examined him and said that it needs to be removed immediately and suggested that it could be a melanoma.</p> <p>As I sat there distraught and in tears she said nothing to comfort me and treated me in a belittling way (because it took me three months to bring my child to a dermatologist). The following week we made an appointment to remove what-we-thought-might-be-a-melanoma and went to see the anesthetist, who said it is far too dangerous to opperate on my son whose lungs were weazing. The dermatologist did not even have the odacity to speak to the anaesthetist herself, and asked my fiance and I what he has said. When we told her that the anesthetist believes it is too dangerous to opperate at this stage, she pressured us to persuade him against his better judgement to continue with the opperation because she wanted to go on leave.</p> <p> </p> <p>All of this urgency because the dermatologist wanted to go on leave. Needless to say we got it removed at a different clinic when it was safe to do so, and it turns out the so-called-melanoma was nothing to worry about luckily. I sincerely hope that other mothers that visits Cure Day Clinics at Erasmuskloof has a different experience, becuase no one desrves to be treated in such a condescending and inhumane manner, especially not a concerned mother with her child's best interest at heart.</p>
