******* ********* and utterly ********* "Chop shop"
I'm completely gutted. I took my phone(Huawei Mate 8) to Huawei Canal Walk for repairs after my phone had tragically sustained water damage 2 months ago. Huawei sent my phone away to their center in Johannesburg to asses the damage for a quote on repairs. They the emailed me an quote for the following "Level 2 Repairs" = R250, "Front Cover ASSY - SILVER" =R2,173.55 which to my understanding is the entire casing of the phone which is ALUMINIUM and lastly "Light SWAP - Channel" =R4,030.94 which seems to be the backlight?(I will explain my question mark shortly) Anyhow, totaling to R7358.12 incl vat. I then politely declined this quote as the phone is currently valued at R10499 and even as low as R8795 on online retailers. When I finally got my phone back from Huawei in Canal walk after it now had all this time corrode away even further during the 2 months, I took it to a reputable local cellular repair store on a Friday 3pm. He told me that he himself obviously had to asses the damage for himself before quoting me, he got back to me at 5pm that same day with a quote of R1900. I was over the moon and told him straight away to go ahead, next day at 11am he whatsapps me a picture of my phone working and I tell him great I'll come through to collect it. When I get the phone from him I ask him what needed replacing etc as I'm curious how he could repair it so much more cost effectively, he shakes he's head and asks who had the phone prior to him repairing the phone because he doesn't like the way they do things so I ask him how so? So beside the fact that the phone was in pretty bad shape in some areas because of he water that got into it he said that CDTI had stripped the phone down and simply failed to put back many of the components including the battery and battery cover. Now here's why I'm completely livid with this bull ****. Firstly you basically already tried to rip me off by charging me for whats near as make no difference a new phone. Secondly when I decline the quote instead of cleaning that which could be salvaged you go and simply "chop" my phone for parts and send it back to me. Thirdly, I wouldn't be able to say if those parts were of any use because they are now *******ly in your possession, but a lot was salvaged from the phone so the repair may had even be less had he not had to source new parts to replace the parts removed and who the hell gives you the right to take parts from my property then botch the unit together ever so slightly to resembling something of a phone, because hey if he declines our repairs there's no way he might take it some place else for repairs so **** this guy anyway we'll just have at his parts including the 4100mah battery. For a company like Huawei to be using them as partner for repairs to their customer phones is honestly shocking and they're clearly oblivious to what is going on as Huawei's after sale service when described as poor is giving them a compliment, it seriously is that bad. Just expected more from companies of this magnitude.
