MOST PATHETIC HOTEL NOT TAKING THEIR GUESTS SAFETY SERIOUSLY

Most pathetic place to stay. Friday night somebody tried to break into our room at this place. I reported it to the hotel personnel who told us that they would investigate. They then told us that it could only be one of their personnel, as the other guests' keys would not be able to unlock any door other than that of the rooms that they stay in.

At no point did these people inform us what the outcome of the investigation was.

Today, when I asked them about it, I was told by the reception that it was a guest who was at the wrong door. Apparently their CCTV is of such a nature that they could not see whether the door was opened and also that other guests' keys won't open the door.

When I asked them to speak to their General Manager, he was apparently missing in action. Also, the matter was not reported to the South African Police Service, which is what should have been done when a crime is reported. In any event, at no stage did this so-called General Manager or any of his staff checked whether my wife and I are okay, nor did they follow up with any feedback or any indication on what measures they are implementing to prevent similar occurrences.

It seems that they are all about protecting themselves and their "supposedly" good name at the behest of their guests.

I will NEVER EVER recommend this hotel or any Protea Hotel ever again and am stopping my membership with effect from today.

An update to this. I eventually got hold of the GM of this hotel who then admitted that there are rooms in this hotel where the door locks are not working properly and any key can open the hotel room doors. So even though one think you have locked the door, it is in fact not locked. To think this hotel was our first choice whenever we visited Cape Town only to find out that it is possible that we slept with rooms where any other guest of t this hotel could get into your room. Then this GM had the audacity to invite us back to this hotel where there is no regard for the safety of its guests. And absolutely no apology for the lies that his staff uttered when they told us that there was nothing wrong with the door locks
