A Caution To Timeshare Owners

A CAUTIONARY MESSAGE TO THE TIME SHARING COMMUNITY. I was booked to check into Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge from 17 to 24 September 2021. It was a RCI exchange. I received a call from Kgmotso from the resort on 16 Sept. 2021, who informed me that the resort ONLY ALLOWS 4 adults and 2 children under 12. Here we are with with 5 adults all ready for our holiday. I was to direct any further query to RCI. On reading my RCI confirmation letter, no mention is made, under the booking information that Crystal Springs 6 sleeper units ONLY accommodates 4 adults and 2 children under 12. On reading the terms and conditions, point one says: ".... Sleeper couches are suitable for children 12 years and younger only." The word suitable leaves it open to the guests interpretation. Fortunately for me RCI came to my rescue. They cancelled my Crystal Springs booking and immediately booked me into Sabi River Sun. Heartfelt gratitude 🙏 and thanks to RCI. I can understand a resort implementing its maximum accommodation policy. However, I do hope that going forward all Exchange companies indicate clearly their policy in relation to number of adults and children accommodated in specific units.

Here's something to all owners at Crystal Springs and other resorts to ponder on and to take up at their AGMs: Timeshare is purchased as an investment by a family unit. A family unit is made up of growing children. When the children reach the age of 13 what are the parents going to do with their Timeshare specifically if they own at Crystal Springs Mountain Lodge. Is it going to go to waste....... Do you sell it.... Pay your levies for no benefit....
