Crown House Roofing and Renovations ****mers
CROWN HOUSE ROOFING & RENOVATION PTY LTD / 53 Kirstenbos street Witpoortjie CRN: *** office number: ***/ ***/ ***/ *** They don't even deserve 1 star. We paid them R205, 000 for a 2 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom, kitchen and small lounge and front porch flatlet with a build in braai area. They where supposed to do building plans and advise us before they started building, ekurhuleni stopped them from working as they where building our roof on-site and where told that what they where doing was wrong and the roof can give in on someone and kill them. With only less than R40,000 - R60,000 according to other building contractors spent by Crown House on our promised flat, we where now fined, Marko, Chantelle his wife and his partner JB disappeared in thin air with no check up, no follow up for over 1year. We started this project in September 2025, it's now September 2026. We ended up with over R80,000 on building plans, a roof we had to install 1 year later cost us over R120,000. We have 1 bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, lounge and dining area flatlet now, which we had to complete and are still fixing their mistakes, and replacing the cheep structures and materials they used. We contacted them to refund us the remainder of the funds with no luck, no response. I hope I get to warn as many people as I can from this company and these people. They sell you the world and all the promises, but they have no flowing capital in this company and was money hungry. May they keep their karma, we will be taking legal action next as we tried to resolve it. Will update this case moving forward. BEWARE: R800k Paid, Site Abandoned – Crown House Roofing & Renovations
I am posting this to protect potential customers from making the same expensive errors I did and to share a factual timeline of my experience with Crown House Roofing & Renovations (specifically CEO Marko Janse Van Rensburg and Sales Rep Jan). The Pitch: I engaged Crown House for an extensive home renovation in January 2026. The Statement of Work included a ****'s quarters, cinema room, sunroom, study, two pergolas, composite pool decking, roofing, damp proofing, and three accent walls. Jan did a phenomenal job selling the dream. Both he and Marko attended several after-hours and weekend meetings, assuring me they had the capacity for a project of this scale. Mistake 1: Believing the sales pitch without holding back the bulk of the funds. The Honeymoon Phase: The first two months were great. Several teams were on-site working on different areas simultaneously. Based on this stellar start, I paid 95% of the project value (approx. R800,000) within 60 days, and I even confidently referred them to a close family friend. Mistake 2: Rewarding motion instead of completed milestones. To date, not a single milestone on that SOW has been completed. The Decline: Once the final instalment cleared, the dynamic flipped. Marko only responded when he felt like it, and I had to beg Jan for on-site progress meetings. The large teams vanished, replaced by a few guys dropped off in the morning who achieved very little. Fridays became unofficial holidays, with excuses ranging from "medicals" "training" and "braai days." The Collapse: Matters worsened in May when the site was abandoned for almost two weeks. I was explicitly informed by both Marko and Jan that the delays were due to SARS-related issues and administrative challenges regarding bank accounts for foreign workers. I was told this was resolved after they "opened additional accounts," and a team finally returned on June 1st to work for a few days. However, all work came to a dead stop on June 9th. There have been no workers on site since, and management has completely ghosted me, ignoring all messages and emails for three weeks. Remember the friend I referred? Same story, different cast. After paying them a few hundred thousand rand, they botched her epoxy flooring and other parts of her house. They then had the audacity to tell her she needed to pay again to have it tiled over. She sent a legal Letter of Demand, which they ignored, and summons are now being prepared after she had to hire new contractors to fix their mess. I have accepted the "school fees" on this one. I am in discussions with my legal team and am now forced to hire new contractors to finish the work I already paid Crown House to do. If you are considering using this company, engage at your own severe financial risk.
