Shop refuses to swop newly bought ripped shoes

My husband, Deon, bought Vans trainers, advertised to him by the salesman as shoes he can use for gim and skate boarding. On the second day after buying the trainers and only wearing them twice for gim, the trainers started to rip loose on the top sides. When my husband tried returning the shoes, expecting them to at least swop it for new ones, they refused. Told him it's his own fault that the shoes look like that. He insisted on speaking to the owner, Daniel Frame, but he was told to take his shoes and leave. This is absolutely unacceptable. My husband bought the shoes on sale, but still it was expensive, R899. What can be done about this? Please contact Deon Nortier ***
