I would just like to report the ********** service that I received from one of your stores (Promenade Mall, Cape Town) by your extremely unprofessional manager yesterday. I had bought a size 5 infant Converse All Star for my nephew at Somerset West Mall on the 5 December 2019. When I met him during the weekend I found that the shoes were small. I went to the Promenade store to exchange the pair for a size 6 because that store is the closest to me. When I arrived at the store I was assisted by a sales assistant who said it was no problem to exchange the pair for the bigger size. The manager came to assist and she stated that the shoes had been worn because the laces were dirty. I refuted her statement as the shoe couldn’t even fit my nephew but I as well could notice that the laces were dirty. The sales assistant quickly picked up the problem and stated that only the left shoe was dirty and the right shoe was spotless she deduced that I had been given a display shoe, because the stores always displays the left shoe. This quickly made sense however, the manager refused this explanation telling me that I had to take it to Somerset Mall, which is 35km away, because she thought that the shoes were worn and maybe I had washed the right shoe and forgot to wash the left. This was not the most appalling or bizarre thing she said, she claimed that “’we’ (which I guess would mean my racial profile) always try these things and that it would not work on her. I should rather leave the store and go to Somerset Mall and they should deal with my stunt.” This has left me appalled at the level of service at your store and the overtly ****** tone that I was met with. What leaves me stunned is that a sales assistant could see the problem and could sort it out but the manager could just overrule on what is clear as daylight and insult a customer, because of her personal opinions (which I might add am shocked that you still have in your employ, in this time in our country)
